After moving to California in 2010, it quickly became apparent that the perception of the state from an outsiders perspective is completely false. California is unique, that’s very true, but it’s uniqueness lies in it’s ability to be a chameleon. I began photographing places that reminded me of other cities in other parts of the country that, when taken out of context, could be confused for Pittsburgh or Miami or somewhere in North Dakota.
